The Story

Human Nature actually began as Pet Works of Maine. We were (and still are!) making natural dog grooming products (shampoo, shampoo bars, spritzer, paw balm, you get the idea).

Before long we were getting requests for “people” or “human” soaps, lotions, balms, etc. and Human Nature was born.

We’ve added soy candles & a few other natural products to our line so we’ve got something for just about everyone. We’re always changing & evolving too so you never know what we’re going to add next. It’s this constant search for the next great earth-friendly product that keeps things fresh, fun & exciting. Our products are made in small batches to ensure high quality.

Human Nature specializes in cold process soapmaking, using a combination of lye, butters & oils and water (along with herbs, natural colorants, etc.) that results in your basic bar of soap. Who knew chemistry could be so much fun! We currently offer over 25 varieties of soap, from Apple Jack to Wake-Up Call & everything in-between.
